About the speaker

Kathryn Clark Childers made history as one of the first five female US Secret Service agents hired in 1970. Kathryn joined 1,100 men in the elite 105-year-old agency where she shot holes in the “glass ceiling” of this man’s world investigating counterfeit, working undercover, and protecting the President and world leaders.

Today, Kathryn is sought after on the national speaking circuit not only entertaining audiences with her astonishing and fascinating history, but motivates, engages, and inspires audiences to real action. She shares the secret of her success coaching all ages to grasp her life-long mantra – “do it scared!” – and make it their own. Kathryn brings the perfect balance of a one-of-a-kind experience blended with story-telling charm taking audiences on a jaw-dropping ride-along sharing anecdotes of training and protecting some the world’s most important people.

Since leaving the Service and moving to the Corpus Christi area in 1973, Childers has been a television producer, broadcaster, and talk show host.

This event sponsored by the Texas Pioneer Foundation Fund.

Your membership dues will go towards helping the Libraries with a critical need as well as a distinguished project. Your gifts will support the Libraries’ pandemic response and The Folger Institute “Road Show” featuring the University Libraries’ Book History Workshop:
  • The COVID-19 virus has drastically changed the way Texas A&M provides both physical and virtual resources to Aggies while maintaining a healthful environment. This year your Friends membership will go towards covering a portion of the extra cost associated with the Libraries’ pandemic response (protective barriers, signage, furniture for outdoor study spaces and real-time occupancy monitoring, to name just a few.)
  • The Folger Institute offers first-rate seminars and programs for leading scholars and advanced graduate students at the Folger Shakespeare Library in Washington DC. However, the Folger Shakespeare Library is closed for renovations, so the Institute asked members to pitch ideas for hosting a class. The Texas A&M University Libraries’ proposal was unanimously selected to be featured. This year your Friends membership will support this immersive experience by underwriting a portion of the cost for writing desks and other equipment to facilitate innovative instruction.
