Please join us for an evening centered around our Spy-craft mystery theme featuring keynote speaker, Christy Daugherty ‘88, sharing her professional story from Texas A&M to England and the creation of her most recent alias persona, Ava Glass, author of the Emma Makepeace British Spy series. Dubbed ‘The new queen of spy fiction’ by The Guardian newspaper, and ‘the real thing’ by the Washington Post, as Ava Glass, Ms. Daugherty has published three books with a fourth coming out in March 2026: The Chase, The Traitor, The Trap, and The Hiding Season. “An Evening with The Friends” will be the first in-person discussion of this new book in the U.S. by the author.
A former crime reporter and accidental civil servant, C.J. Daugherty began writing the Night School series while working as a communications consultant for the Home Office. The young adult series was published by Little Brown and went on to sell over a million copies worldwide. A web series inspired by the books clocked up well over a million views. In 2020, the books were optioned for
television. She later wrote The Echo Killing series, published by St Martin’s Press, and co-wrote the fantasy series, The Secret Fire, with French author Carina Rosenfeld.
